India Post GDS Merit List 2024 is compiled on the basis of converting marks/grades/marks obtained in 10th class secondary school examination of recognized board into marks in percentage with accuracy of 4 decimals. For students whose 10th class secondary school examination mark sheet contains marks or both marks and grades/marks mentioned in each subject, their total marks will be calculated by considering the ‘marks obtained’.
If a candidate applies with grades/marks instead of marks, his/her application will be rejected. For candidates with only grades the subject wise marks for each subject will be calculated by applying a multiplication factor of 9.5 by the following method:
Grade | Grade Point | Multiplication Factor |
---|---|---|
A1 | 10 | 9.5 |
A2 | 9 | 9.5 |
B1 | 8 | 9.5 |

GDS Result 2024 Selection Process
Applicants will be selected for appointment on the basis of merit list prepared by the system. The merit list will be prepared by converting marks/grades/points obtained in 10th class secondary school examination of approved board into marks (as mentioned in sub para- iii to ix below) and aggregating them into percentage with accuracy of 4 decimals. Passing in all subjects is mandatory as per the respective approved board norms.
For applicants who have marks or both marks and grades/points in their 10th class secondary school examination mark sheet, only their aggregate marks will be calculated by taking into account the marks obtained in all compulsory and optional/elective subjects (excluding additional subjects, if any). This will ensure that applicants with higher marks are selected.
