General English

The topics on which questions will be asked in the General English section are mentioned below. This section will consist of a total of 100 questions in the exam:

• Terms commonly used in official communication
• Direct and Indirect Narration
• Voice
• Articles, Adjectives, Adverbs, Conjunctions and Question tags
• Synthesis: Simple, Compound and Complex
• Correct use of tenses
• One-word substitution
• Synonyms, Antonyms and Homonyms
• Use of Correct prepositions
• Subject-Verb agreement
• Correction of sentences
• Idioms and Phrasal Verbs
• Comprehension — A paragraph of appropriate length on a Scientific/Technical subject to test the candidate’s competency in the following areas: a. Familiarity with terminology, b. Thematic understanding of the paragraph, c. Knowledge of basic principles of English Grammar.

Concerned Discipline

In this section, the examination authority will ask 100 questions from specific self-discipline topics, each carrying 2 marks. The time duration of Paper 2 will be 3 hours. This exam tests the candidate’s proficient knowledge and conceptual understanding of their respective field. The paper will consider the teaching skills of the candidates.

UKPSC Polytechnic Lecturer Exam Pattern 2024

UKPSC Polytechnic Lecturer Exam 2024 will have three papers, i.e. Paper 1 for Basic Hindi, Paper 2 for Basic Hindi and Paper 3 for Special Discipline. Paper 1 and Paper 2 will have 100 questions each carrying 1 mark for a correct answer in a duration of two hours.
