Texas football dominates Michigan in first half behind Quinn Evers, defense 2024
Texas football dominates Michigan in first half : Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is proving to be unmatched in the Big House. And Michigan had no answer for him on either side of the ball. As a result, the Longhorns completely dominated the first half and took a 24-3 lead into halftime. Ewers outplayed the defending national champions at home, especially with his third-down connections.
Behind Ewers, the Longhorns converted seven of their first eight attempts on third down. Texas nearly converted another attempt, but a holding call negated Ewers’ 24-yard touchdown strike on the opening possession.
After that penalty, the first drive ended in a missed field goal. But the Longhorns scored 24 points on their next four drives, the last 10 of which came off Michigan turnovers. Ewers made the Wolverines pay for the last turnover, finding Matthew Golden for a 5-yard touchdown pass with 10 seconds left in the half.

The two teams nearly faced off in last year’s national championship, but Michigan faced Washington for the national title after the Huskies swept the Longhorns in the semifinals. But, the Wolverines didn’t have to wait long to get a chance against the Longhorns in a high-stakes matchup.
