SSC CGL Syllabus 2024

The SSC CGL syllabus mainly consists of 4 subjects- General Knowledge, Quantitative Aptitude, General Reasoning and English Comprehension. Candidates need to understand the basic concepts/rules/formulas in topics like Quantitative Aptitude, General Reasoning and English Comprehension at the start of their preparation and learn the basics from NCERT books for General Knowledge.

It is well known that SSC CGL will have two stages, Tier I and Tier II, with different difficulty levels. Tier 1 and Tier 2 of SSC CGL are conducted online. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam is one of the best gateways to serve the country in prestigious positions in various ministries and departments. But to crack the CGL exam, it is very important to have a good understanding of the SSC CGL syllabus.

SSC CGL Selection Process 2024

Before we discuss the syllabus and exam pattern, candidates must be aware of the CGL selection process. The SCC CGL selection process consists of two stages- Tier 1 and Tier 2 CBT exam. Tier 1 is a qualifying exam in which objective questions of 200 marks are asked. Tier 2 decides the merit list and the level of questions in this tier is tougher than Tier 1. SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Pattern

As mentioned above, Tier 2 is the most important and toughest of the exams. It decides the qualifying status of the candidates appearing in the exam. Also, the marks obtained in this tier determine the rank of the candidates based on their rank.

Paper 1 consists of three sections consisting of questions from Mathematical Ability, Reasoning, General Intelligence and General Awareness. Along with these, there are questions from a computer knowledge test and a data entry speed test. Paper 2 focuses on Statistics, which consists of 100 questions carrying a total of 200 marks and has a duration of 2 hours. Paper 3 consists of General Studies (Finance and Economics), which consists of 100 questions carrying a total of 200 marks and has a duration of 2 hours.

SSC CGL Tier 2 exam will be conducted online comprising 3 papers-

Module II of Section III of Paper-I (SSC CGL Computer Proficiency Syllabus)

DEST – Module II of Section III of Paper-I will include conducting a 15-minute Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) in Session II on the same day.
The “Data Entry Speed Test” (DEST) Skill Test will be conducted for a passage of about 2000 (two thousand) key depressions for 15 (fifteen) minutes. Detailed instructions regarding the Skill Test will
be provided by the Regional Offices of the Commission.

Candidates are required to type 2000 words in English in 15 minutes on a computer. This test is conducted to check a candidate’s typing skills. Candidates are given an article in English that they must type on the Computer. For the post of Tax Assistant (Central Excise and Income Tax), the DEST Exam through the SSC CGL 2022 exam is conducted to check the candidate’s typing speed.

DEST will be mandatory for all posts. However, it will be qualifying in nature.
