What is GATE Exam?
GATE 2025 to be conducted by IIT Roorkee Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is an all India exam that provides candidates with many opportunities to pursue their chosen fields. The main purpose of this exam is to evaluate the candidate’s knowledge in various undergraduate subjects such as engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts and humanities. This exam will consist of 30 subjects and candidates can choose 2 subjects based on their interest. On behalf of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, National Coordination Board, Department of Education and Government of India, this exam is conducted by IISC Bangalore as well as seven IITs.
GATE 2025 Eligibility Criteria
IIT Roorkee has specified some of the basic eligibility criteria that a candidate must know before applying for GATE 2025. Only eligible candidates will be allowed to sit in this examination.
- Candidates must have a bachelor’s /master’s degree in their respective subjects.
- Those who have completed any government-approved degree program in engineering/technology/architecture/science/commerce/arts/humanities, or if they are presently in their third or higher year of an undergraduate program are also eligible for GATE 2025.
- Candidates who are pursuing or have completed their qualifying degree from any other country than India are also eligible to appear for this examination but they must have either completed or are in the third year of their Bachelor’s Degree in engineering/technology/architecture/science/commerce/arts/humanities.
GATE 2025 Exam Pattern
The Graduate Aptitude Engineering Test will be conducted for a total duration of 180 minutes or 3 hours at respective examination centers. The selected subject section will include questions based on MCQs, Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and/or Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions. For all 30 papers General Aptitude Test will be for 15 marks. There is no negative marking in MSQ/NAT questions but marks will be deducted for wrong answers in MCQ questions. 1/3 marks will be deducted for 1 mark MCQ and 2/3 marks will be deducted for 2 mark MCQs.
