Tirupati laddu controversy Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan demands ‘Sanatana Dharma Rakshana Board’ 2024

Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan demands : Mr Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party this week cited a July report by a Gujarat laboratory that said beef fat, fish oil and traces of pig fat or lard were found in ghee samples. New Delhi: Union Health Minister JP Nadda has sought a “detailed report” from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on the controversy over animal fat in ghee used to make laddus offered as prasad to the deity at the Tirupati temple.

Mr Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party this week cited a July report by a Gujarat government laboratory that said beef fat, fish oil and traces of pig fat or lard were found in ghee samples used when his rival – YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy – was in power.

Chandrababu Naidu and his deputy, Jana Sena Party leader Pawan Kalyan, have attacked the YSRCP, accusing Jagan Mohan Reddy of desecrating the temple and ‘Sanatana Dharma’. The Bharatiya Janata Party, which is in alliance with the TDP and Jana Sena at the Centre, has strongly criticised it. Union minister and national general secretary Sanjay Bandi has called it an “unpardonable sin”.

He also claimed a communal angle and alleged that the ghee was adulterated because “some people from other religions were included” in the board. BJP MP Bhanu Prakash Reddy, who is on the board of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (the government trust that manages the Tirumala Venkateswara temple and others in the state), also expressed displeasure, demanding that a police complaint be lodged against the former chief minister.

Meanwhile, the YSR Congress has hit back strongly at the flood of allegations. Rajya Sabha MP YV Subba Reddy, who was the TTD chairman for four years, said it was “unthinkable to even say that ‘animal fat was used in the sacred food offered to the deity daily and the laddus given to the devotees'”. Mr Reddy hit out at the Chief Minister for the “disgusting” claim. Mr Reddy also said it was in fact Chandrababu Naidu who had damaged the sanctity of the temple and affected crores of devotees by making such derogatory remarks.

Prem Garg, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Panchkula, campaigned in the markets of Sector 16 and 17, where he interacted with shopkeepers door-to-door. Promising clean politics, clean governance and clean development, Garg said, “Elections have become extremely expensive.

Politicians first want to grab power and then use their position to fill their coffers by indulging in unethical activities. A lot of money can be saved by not setting up desks outside the 220 polling stations on the day of polling. As far as providing information to voters is concerned, the Election Commission has already completed the important task of delivering voter slips to every household.”
