Alcaraz on a potential final with Sinner Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz ready for big success in Beijing

Alcaraz on a potential final with Sinner : Carlos Alcaraz has regained his smile. This is evident in his sensibilities, his agility on the court, his fluidity when attacking and his ability to appear in any corner of the court. This was best exemplified in his semifinal clash at the ATP Beijing 2024, where he defeated Daniil Medvedev in a convincing fashion.

After reaching his fifth final of the year and improving to an impressive 7-1 record against top-10 players in 2024, the Murcian went to a press conference and talked about a hypothetical final against Jannik Sinner, as well as confessing what his attitude and approach is in each match in the Chinese capital. – Sensation after a great win against Medvedev and his first final in Beijing

“I think I played really well today. Obviously, if you want to beat Daniil, you have to play at a high level of tennis, you have to be very fast. Today I felt very good on the court again, which made me very happy. I think I couldn’t have played a better semifinal, which allowed me to reach the final in the best possible way. I’m very, very happy to be able to play my first final in Beijing.”

Who do you prefer in the final? Sinner or Bu Yuanchao?

“It’s obvious that Bu (smiles). I won’t lie to you. Jannik is the best player in the world at the moment. Bu has been playing great tennis all week, beating great players; if I had to choose who is better to face in the final, if I wanted to win it, it would be Bu. Alcaraz on a potential final with Sinner As I’ve always said, I also like the fight, facing the best players in the world in the toughest matches, so I would also be happy if I faced Jannik in the final.” – The brutal atmosphere created by the Chinese public throughout the match

“To be honest, I was very surprised to go onto the court and see that the court was almost full. Being Tuesday, the stands were full… I was very happy to see so many people. When I face Daniil we both play great tennis, with great rallies, and I think that’s something that people really enjoy. Because of that, people start watching the match: I think we show a mix of everything, with good rallies, good defence, great attacks, a good mix. It’s fantastic for the audience. I really enjoyed the atmosphere today, hopefully I’ll be able to feel that energy again in the final.”

Staying calm after being given two consecutive counterbreaks by Medvedev

“In those moments I just try to stay there. I broke him twice in the first set, but he broke me back. I was just thinking, ‘OK, let’s move on.’ Maybe that time I didn’t hit a few first serves, I made a few mistakes from the baseline that I shouldn’t have made. But that’s okay – I knew what I had to do, I had to continue playing my tennis, that the opportunities would come again.

That’s what I was thinking when he was breaking me. I always try to push him to the limit, force him to run from side to side, impose my style. If I miss, it doesn’t matter, I have to continue playing and stay there. Alcaraz on a potential final with Sinner That’s what I thought, and that helped me play a high level of tennis in both sets.” – Popular with the ball boys: more than 80% of the tournament participants choose him as their favourite player “It’s great to see that so many people support me.

I’m glad that the ball kids do that, it’s great. I try to motivate in the right way with my behaviour on the court and the way I approach each match. When I see the ball kids I try to talk to them, I have a great time, it’s something that makes me happy and I’m happy to know that.”
