In-Cadre Promotion
Employees get a chance to get promoted in their current job category based on their performance, experience, and eligibility criteria. This progression is linked to the time spent at a particular posting location.
Notably, employees get an additional special allowance of Rs 1800 per month, which is not deducted from their basic pay. After ten years of service, an associate is promoted to the position of senior associate. After twenty years of service, an associate advances to the role of special associate, which comes with a monthly special allowance of Rs 2500.
This allowance is then included in the calculation of basic pay. Once an associate completes 30 years of service, he can reach the position of chief associate, where he gets a special allowance of Rs 3500, which is also included in the basic pay calculation.
Promotion to the Office Cadre
An associate can reach the rank of trainee officer after three years of service. To reach the officer level, candidates have to clear the JAIIB (Junior Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers) and CAIIB (Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers) exams of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance.
Candidates have to clear these exams as well as an internal written exam and an interview. After successful completion of the written exam, there is a probation period of two years.
